Finding space in an urban environment can be a challenge. In light of the recent pandemic, our homes are becoming multifaceted spaces. They are a place for living, working and finding wellbeing.

This sky retreat is a third story addition to an existing two storey home in Toronto’s Bloor West Village. The design utilizes traditional building typologies and is set back from the main building edge to create privacy for a rooftop garden.

The design balances the use of natural light and ventilation to reduce energy consumption. Light, air and materials are used to create warm and calm spaces to promote wellness.

This sky retreat seeks to find space for a family in a neighbourhood they love.
